About Bihar & Jharkhand
Bihar, often hailed as the “Land of Buddha,” boasts a rich historical legacy dating back to ancient times. It holds the distinguished honor of being the birthplace of Lord Buddha, who delivered his inaugural sermon at Sarnath, nestled near Varanasi, a city nestled within Bihar’s borders. This profound historical association has rendered Bihar a revered pilgrimage destination for Buddhists worldwide.
Furthermore, Bihar’s fertile Gangetic plains have long been synonymous with its thriving agricultural heritage. These bountiful plains have played a pivotal role in bolstering India’s agricultural output, with the state emerging as a prominent producer of staple crops like rice, wheat, and maize.
Among Bihar’s architectural marvels stands the illustrious Nalanda University, an ancient seat of learning that once drew scholars from across Asia. Though the original university met its demise, its legacy lives on through the revival of a modern university dedicated to Buddhist studies and scholarly research.
Moreover, Bihar holds the sacred site of Bodh Gaya, where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment beneath the revered Bodhi Tree. The Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as a testament to this profound spiritual awakening, magnetizing devotees and tourists alike to its hallowed grounds.
Jharkhand stands as an international beacon for its abundant mineral wealth, boasting significant reserves of coal, iron ore, mica, bauxite, and limestone. Its pivotal role in India’s mineral production, notably in coal and iron ore extraction, has firmly entrenched it on the global economic map. The steel industry, in particular, thrives on Jharkhand’s ample iron ore reserves, making the state an indispensable linchpin in the nation’s industrial and economic landscape.
Moreover, Jharkhand is celebrated for its vibrant tapestry of tribal cultures. Home to a myriad of indigenous tribal communities, each bearing its distinctive customs, traditions, and languages, the state epitomizes cultural diversity. From the Santhal, Munda, Ho, to the Oraon and beyond, these tribal groups weave a rich tapestry of art forms, music, and dance, captivating enthusiasts, anthropologists, and researchers worldwide.
Beyond its cultural wealth, Jharkhand’s natural splendor is equally mesmerizing. Verdant forests, undulating hills, meandering rivers, and cascading waterfalls adorn its picturesque landscapes. Whether exploring the lush expanses or embarking on thrilling jungle safaris in Valmiki National Park or Betla National Park, nature enthusiasts and wildlife aficionados alike find solace amidst Jharkhand’s pristine beauty.
